Call for papers: Mixed Arbitral Tribunals, 1919–1930: An Experiment in the International Adjudication of Private Rights (Luksemburg, kwiecień 2020 r.)

Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law organizuje w dniach 23-24 kwietnia 2020 r. konferencję pt. "Mixed Arbitral Tribunals, 1919–1930: An Experiment in the International Adjudication of Private Rights". Tematy, którymi zainteresowani są Organizatorzy to:
  • How the MATs contributed to the development of public international law;
  • How the MATs contributed to private international law; 
  • How the MATs contributed to intellectual property law; 
  • How the MATs contributed to the foreign legal policies of individual states (both within and outside Europe); 
  • How the MATs contributed to the professionalisation of international law academics and practitioners; 
  • The role and sociology of non-state actors before the MATs; 
  • The relations between the MATs and other international institutions; 
  • The differences between the MATs and other dispute settlement mechanisms of the interwar period (notably the German–US Mixed Commission); 
  • The perception of the MATs by the press and the broader public at the time of their operation; 
  • The subsequent use of case law produced by the MATs by international institutions, legal scholars and practitioners; 
  • The subsequent impact of the MATs on international adjudication.

Call for applications: Max Planck Luxembourg PhD Scholarships 2020

Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law z siedzibą w Luksemburgu ogłosił nabór na stypendia dla doktorantów trwające do 6 miesięcy w 2020 r.

Termin nadsyłania zgłoszeń mija 31 maja. Na aplikację powinny składać się: list motywacyjny, CV, streszczenie projektu rozprawy doktorskiej oraz 2 listy polecające (w tym jeden od promotora). Wysokość stypendium wynosi 1500 euro miesięcznie. Więcej informacji można znaleźć tutaj.

Call for applications: International Max Planck Research School for Successful Dispute Resolution in International Law

International Max Planck Research School for Successful Dispute Resolution in International Law ogłasza nabór na 5 miejsc dla doktorantów w Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law.

Doktorantom zostanie zaproponowane zatrudnienie na okres 2 lat, z możliwością przedłużenia na kolejne 12 miesięcy. Ponieważ Instytut Maxa Plancka w Luksemburgu nie może nadawać stopni doktora, zatrudnieni będą musieli podjąć studia doktoranckie na Uniwersytecie w Luksemburgu, z możliwością współpracy z innymi ośrodkami.

Call for papers: The Judicial Power of Africa’s Supranational Courts (Luksemburg, wrzesień 2018 r.)

Uniwersytet w Luksemburgu zaprasza młodych badaczy na konferencję pt. "The Judicial Power of Africa’s Supranational Courts", która odbędzie się w dniu 21 września br.

Propozycje wystąpień powinny dotyczyć orzecznictwa afrykańskich sądów ponadnarodowych, takich jak African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration of the Organisation pour l’harmonisation en Afrique du droit des affaires (OHADA) i the Court of Justice of the Union Economique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine (UEMOA). 

Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 400 słów w j. angielskim lub francuskim i CV) należy przesyłać do 30 czerwca na adres johannes.fahner(at)uni.lu. Uniwersytet w Luksemburgu pokrywa koszty zakwaterowania i podróży.

Call for Papers: 'Sociological Perspectives on International Tribunals: Formal and Informal Rules, Functions and Symbols' (Luksemburg, listopad 2018 r.)

Luksemburski Instytut Maxa Plancka zaprasza na czwarte z kolei warsztaty poświęcone socjologii prawa międzynarodowego, które odbędą się w dniach 8-9 listopada 2018 r. pod hasłem "Sociological Perspectives on International Tribunals: Formal and Informal Rules, Functions and Symbols".

Organizatorzy w następujący sposób określili cele wystąpień, których oczekują podczas warsztatów: "Papers will discuss diverse socio-cultural issues involved in the operation and impact of international tribunals. Possible paper topics may include: interactions between formal procedural rules and informal norms (such as precedent or voting rules); formal and social functions of tribunals; symbolic aspects of tribunals’ proceedings and their decisions (such as those relating to collective memories); legal cultures (national and international ones) of international adjudication; adjudicators’ socialization and social identities of tribunals; socio-cultural factors influencing the diffusion of procedural rules across international tribunals; diverging/converging scope conditions between a rationalist and socio-cultural (constructivist) paradigm on international tribunals; and the production of knowledge and cognitive aspects of the work of such tribunals."

Do 15 kwietnia br. można nadsyłać propozycje wystąpień na kolokwium pt. "Current Challenges for EU Cross-Border Litigation in a Changing Procedural Environment", organizowane przez Instytut Maxa Plancka w Luksemburgu w dniu 26 września 2018 r.
Do udziału w kolokwium zaproszeni są doktoranci ostatnich lat studiów, osoby ze stopniem doktora oraz osoby z tytułem profesora.
