Call for papers: International Organizations’ Action in Times of COVID-19: Law-Making by Expertise and Soft Law (Sztokholm, wrzesień 2021 r.)

ESIL Interest Groups on International Organizations oraz on International Health Law organizują warsztaty pt. "International Organizations’ Action in Times of COVID-19: Law-Making by Expertise and Soft Law", które odbędą się podczas dorocznej konferencji ESIL mającej miejsce w tym roku w Sztokholmie 8 września.

Organizatorzy są zainteresowani w szczególności następującymi tematami:

Expertise:

• The relevance of expertise in law-making processes led by international institutions for facing COVID-19, both in normative and practical terms.
• The challenges of involving experts in such law-making processes during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the mandate, structure and procedures of international institutions. Are these institutions fit for involving experts in such processes?
• The implications of international institutions’ reliance on expertise in law making processes for their legitimacy and authority before States and peoples during COVID-19. How much can, and should, international organizations rely on expertise to the prejudice of other factors?
• How legitimacy is constructed through suppositions about expert-led law-making practices for facing pandemic threats.
• The interplay between scientific knowledge and international adjudication, especially in the trade arena, in terms of enhancing the authority of institutional law (broadly defined), especially when facing restrictions on the import and export of medical products.

Soft Law:

• The role and contribution of ‘soft law’ in governance, perhaps in strengthening or encouraging commitment to norms.
• Reflections on the relevance or nature of soft law for finding solutions to global health problems currently not envisaged in legally binding rules. A notable example is the holistic perspective towards pandemic risk of the “One Health” approach.
• The varying legal and political authority of different actors involved in the production and implementation of soft law.

Call for papers: Forced Migration Review

Redakcja Forced Migration Review zaprasza do przesyłania tekstów do kolejnego numeru czasopisma, który ukaże się w lipcu 2021 r. i poświęcony będzie tematyce "Public health and WASH".

Artykuły mogą dotyczyć w szczególności następującej problematyki:

• Monitoring, addressing and mitigating public health risks in contexts of displacement – in emergencies (including on the move), protracted situations, and in urban or rural contexts.
• Community engagement in public health and WASH services: participation in design, maintenance and running of facilities and services.
• Inclusion of displaced persons in national public health/WASH systems and in planning and monitoring around health-related Sustainable Development Goals.
• Communication, awareness-raising and use of ICT in public health, including alert systems, registration, monitoring, public health messaging, provision of translation and interpreting, and use of social media and other digital channels.
• Data gathering, interpretation and sharing.
• Identifying and addressing needs in provision of supplies, infrastructure, staffing and training.
• Applying learning from the impact of and response to COVID-19 and epidemics such as cholera and Ebola in areas of preparedness, prevention and response.
• The extent to which considerations of gender, disability, sexual orientation, age, language and ability to pay are taken into account in assessing vulnerabilities and protection needs relating to the provision of public health and WASH in contexts of displacement.

Redakcja Yearbook of International Disaster Law zaprasza do nadsyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego numeru czasopisma (vol. 3). Wydanie to, oprócz działu ogólnego, będzie zawierało także sekcję specjalną pt. “Health and Disasters”. 

Abstrakty proponowanych artykułów (700-1000 słów) należy przesyłać do 31 października br. na adres info@yearbookidl.org. Autorzy wybranych propozycji będą zobligowani do przesłania pełnych tekstów do 15 maja 2021 r.

Call for papers: Health in Europe (Belfast, wrzesień 2020 r.)

W dniach 6-9 września 2020 r. w Belfaście odbędzie się konferencja University Association for Contemporary European Studies. Organizatorzy przewidzieli w jej trakcie panel pt. "Health in Europe". Proponowane tematy wystąpień podczas panelu to:

· Public health, health determinants and health inequalities in and across member states

· The role of European actors – the Commission, the Parliament, the agencies, WHO Europe etc. – in health and health governance

· The impact of the single market upon health systems, for example via competition law, pharmaceutical regulation, migration of health professionals, trade

· Governing health emergencies and managing collective health threats in Europe

Call for submissions: Jean Monnet Summer School on Human Rights and Health (Salerno, lipiec 2019 r.)

W dniach 1-5 lipca br. w Salerno odbędzie się szkoła letnia dotycząca praw człowieka i zdrowia. Szkoła rozpocznie się konferencją na temat wzajemnych relacji między tymi dwoma zagadnieniami. Oferta skierowana jest do studentów, doktorantów, jak i osób zajmujących się tematyką zdrowia.

Na stronie internetowej szkoły nie ma informacji na temat terminu nadsyłania zgłoszeń. Rejestracja odbywa się za pośrednictwem formularza.
