Organizatorzy są zainteresowani zwłaszcza następującymi tematami wystąpień:

• Multiplying instruments for investment control: screening, sanctions and subsidies

• Sustainability screening: climate change and investment control

• Digital sovereignty and investment screening: data, media and freedom of speech

• Health security: Covid-19 implications for screening mechanisms in the Member States

• Threat analysis and the concept of security in practice, including the nature of threats to security and public order, subjects and objects of threat and approaches to threat analysis

• Administrative process in connection with investment screening, antisubsidies enforcement and sanctions, including the application and limitations of fundamental principles of administrative process and the role of mitigation

• Investment screening in the context of state-owned enterprises (SOEs)

• Interaction between investment screening and financial supervision

W dniach 23-24 września br. odbędzie się w formacie online JIEL-ASIL Junior Faculty Forum for International Economic Law. Zaproszenie do udziału w wydarzeniu skierowane jest do młodych naukowców - doktorantów, młodych pracowników naukowych itd. 

Spośród nadesłanych zgłoszeń Organizatorzy wybiorą sześć osób, które wygłoszą referaty podczas Forum. Po każdym wystąpieniu nastąpi dyskusja i omówienie referatu przez doświadczonego badacza. 

Co najmniej jeden z referatów zostanie opublikowany w Journal of International Economic Law (vol. 25).

Call for papers: Practising Reflexivity in International Law (Florencja, listopad 2020 r.)

W dniach 23-24 listopada br. we Florencji odbędzie się po raz drugi EUI Doctoral Forum on International Law, tym razem pod hasłem "Practising Reflexivity in International Law". Do udziału w forum zaproszeni są doktoranci oraz ci, którzy niedawno obroni rozprawy doktorskie.

Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć jednego lub wszystkich trzech poziomów analizy zaproponowanych przez Organizatorów:

• First, papers could focus on the situation of the international lawyer. This may include the role of gender, race, socioeconomic background, or the location of the international lawyer in the Global North or the Global South. It could also include the production of research in a non-native language or about topics with particular emotional intensity, or the practice of fieldwork and teaching. 
• Secondly, papers could adopt a reflexive orientation to the field of international law and its subfields. This may include how international lawyers in sub-fields compete for power, how they draw the divide between practice and theory, or the ways a sub-field is self-contained, builds authority, or reproduces the Western and colonial heritage of international law. 
• Thirdly, papers could examine the scholarly endeavour in international law, exploring the possible distortions brought by the act of thinking about the world compared to its practice. This may include discussing scholarly strategies to engage with practical challenges and a range of institutions and stakeholders.

Organizatorzy zastanawiają się nad wydaniem publikacji pokonferencyjnej.

Call for papers: Thirteenth Annual Doctoral Forum on Legal Theory (online, listopad 2020 r.)

W dniach 26-27 listopada br. Melbourne Law School organizuje po raz trzynasty Doctoral Forum on Legal Theory, w tym roku po tytułem "Sirens + Silences: Law in Lockdown". Wydarzenie odbędzie się w formie online.

Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć następującej problematyki:

• Piercing the law’s silences: How do we attune to law’s silences? What are the positivist/formalist, gendered, sexualised, racialised, colonial, and ecological silences within the law and legal ordering? What are possible productive roles of silence in law: for example, the interpretative gap of judicial interpretation, the right to silence, the right to be forgotten.
• Hearing the law’s sirens: What do sirens announce (and what do they suppress) beneath their deafening noise? How do we sift through the spectacular displays of legal force versus the hidden, slow stressors of legal order: mass incarceration, wage theft, gendered and domestic violence, land grabbing, identity-based discrimination, border control. How can we employ critical race, Indigenous, queer, feminist, political economy and post/decolonial approaches to re-describe law’s sirens?
• Methods in/of crisis: What are the ways in which our conceptual frameworks and research methods might be transformed by moments of upheaval? When the ground shifts, how do we position ourselves in relation to our work and to the world? How do we navigate new terrains of knowledge and power?
• The (new?) nomos of crisis: How might we unsettle the boundaries of international, transnational, national and Indigenous legal orders and trouble notions of citizenship, duties and rights? How can we seize moments of crisis to rupture dominant legal discourses, recast legal narratives and build future legalities? Or have we been here before - the treadmill of perpetual crisis?
• Rewilding critique: How do we interrogate the role of critique, the worlds it helps us to hear, the futures it silences? What is the role and responsibility of critique in our time of crisis?

Call for papers: 8th Forum on Constitutional Democracy, Rule of Law and the fight against corruption (Luanda, grudzień 2019 r.)

W dniach 2-3 grudnia br. odbędzie się ósme forum organizowane przez African Union Commission on International Law, które w tym roku zostanie poświęcone demokracji konstytucyjnej, rządom prawa i walce z korupcją. Organizatorzy oczekują na zgłoszenia dotyczące w szczególności następujących tematów:

• Identification of the sources, the forces of attraction, the dominant practice, and the paradoxes of African constitutionalism in the perspective of fighting corruption
• The nature and scope of socio-economic factors in determining the making process of the legal rules against corruption. What perspectives of conceptual evolution and approach during this 21st Century?
• Evaluation of the place and the involvement of different actors, (internal or external; state or non-state; collective bodies operating either at continental or sub-regional level, etc.) in enhancing the prospects for constitutionalism, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
• The impact of AU legal and policy instruments in the fight against corruption through the strengthening of the rule of law.
• The role and impact of control mechanisms (jurisdictional or non-judicial, national, regional or continental) in the protection of constitutional democracy and the rule of law, particularly with a view to combating corruption.
• Within the strait-jacket of the theme of the 8th Forum, sectoral issues with particular resonance on the African continent, such as the transition from State failure to State Building, conditional public development aid, governance of management natural resources, the fight against illicit financial flows, etc.
• Relevant African case law on the constitutionalism in the frame of fight against corruption

Zaproszenie do udziału w konferencji skierowane jest do młodych naukowców (poniżej 35. roku życia).
