Nabór kandydatów na stanowisko polskiego sędziego TS UE

 W związku z dobiegającą końca kadencją Sędzie TS UE prof. Marka Safjana, Minister do Spraw Unii Europejskiej rozpoczął procedurę wyłaniania kandydata (RP, Rusza procedura wyłaniania kandydata na polskiego sędziego TSUE).

Termin składania aplikacji podobno upływa 19 lipca br. Garść informacji nt. procedury uzyskało Biuro RPO (Rząd do RPO: rusza procedura wyłaniania kandydata na polskiego sędziego TSUE), które o transparentność postępowania zabiega już od zeszłego roku (Procedury wyłaniania kandydata z Polski na sędziego TSUE. W dniach 23-24 września br. odbędzie się konferencja online pt. “International Justice: Looking to the Future”.
Organizatorzy planują następujące tematy paneli podczas konferencji:
1) Interaction between International and National Courts: Competition, Resistance, Cooperation, or a Mixture?(the contours of a new model or models of the relationship between international and national courts);
2) European Court of Human Rights: Between Judicial Diplomacy and Principled Resistance(Reform of the ECtHR: its outcomes and perspectives; evolutive interpretation of the Convention and its limits; execution of the ECtHR judgments; relationships between the ECtHR and other international as well as domestic courts);
3) International Criminal Justice as a Field for Reforms (reform of the ICC, new “hybrid” and specialized tribunals, regional criminal justice, expansion of subject-matter jurisdiction beyond the core international crimes and traditional actors);

Call for papers: PluriCourts Research Conference on Compliance Mechanisms (październik 2021 r.)

PluriCourts organizuje w październiku 2021 r. konferencję pt. “International Courts versus Compliance Mechanisms: Comparative advantages of non-compliance mechanisms and complaint procedures”.
Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących tematów:
  1. Nature of interest to be pursued (e.g. global public goods and common interest norms),
  2. Nature of the process and decision-making (ownership, rules-based, influence, transparency, democratic etc.)
  3. Nature of outcome of the process (e.g. to achieve a result or stimulate process, or binding or non-binding decisions)
  4. Independence and accountability (i.e. legitimacy), in particular with regard to election and composition, and professional standards, and procedural rules
  5. Why and under which circumstances NCM are set up
  6. Which ”legal interests” or ”cases” or ”issues” are more prone to ”in-house” processes than to adjudication? (e.g. questions of capacity or financial constraints, prevention of non-compliance, issues pertaining to collective interests/global commons)?
  7. What is the relationship between the ambition expressed in primary treaty rules? agreement on compliance approach, and the level of compliance?
  8. Differences between facilitation and deterrence/ enforcement; and their consequences.

W dniach 24-25 czerwca 2021 r. PluriCourts organizują doroczne warsztaty "Political and Legal Theory of International Courts and Tribunals", które w przyszłym roku odbędą się online pod hasłem "The Input and Output Legitimacy of International Courts".
Organizatorzy są w szczególności zainteresowani następującymi tematami wystąpień:
  • How should we conceptually approach the legitimacy of international courts?
  • What is the connection between ICs’ normative and descriptive legitimacy?
  • How can we assess the democratic, or more broadly, input-based, legitimacy of ICs?
  • What measures can ICs take to increase their input-based legitimacy?
  • What are the morally relevant outputs of ICs?
  • According to what normative standards can we sort and evaluate the morally relevant outputs of ICs?
  • To what extent can the morally relevant outputs of ICs be sorted as promoting individual or collective rights or, more specifically, individual and collective autonomy?

  • The independent authority of ICs as a legitimacy problem
  • International juristocracy and judicialization
  • The relationship between concepts such as authority, power, legitimacy, and non-domination in the context of ICs.
  • Independence of ICs as contributing to the legitimate settlement of disputes
  • ICs’ legitimate discretion in interpreting and applying the law
  • The composition of ICs and institutional rules for selecting judges, or other aspects of the desired form of independence and accountability with implications for the legitimacy of ICs

Call for applications: Joint Summer School: iCourts (Copenhagen) and PluriCourts (Oslo) (Kopenhaga, czerwiec 2019 r.)

Centre of Excellence for International Courts (iCourts) i PluriCourts zapraszają na wspólną szkołę letnią dla doktorantów zajmujących się problematyką funkcjonowania sądów międzynarodowych w kontekście społecznym i politycznym.
Szkoła odbędzie się w dniach 17-21 czerwca 2019 r. w Kopenhadze. Przewidziano w niej udział 24 doktorantów. Koszt udziału w szkole to 275 euro. iCourts przyznają 3 stypendia na pokrycie kosztów podróży i zakwaterowania, na podstawie przedstawionych projektów badawczych.
Aplikacje należy przesyłać do 1 lutego 2019 r.
