Redakcja Journal of International Criminal Justice zaprasza do nadsyłania artykułów do numeru czasopisma poświęconego zagadnieniom 'International Criminal Justice in an “Age of Misinformation”', który ukaże się w grudniu 2021 r.

Redakcja jest w szczególności zainteresowana następującymi zagadnieniami:

• To what extent do communication strategies meet substantive demands for openness, transparency and free access to information?

• What are the benefits, costs and risks of ICTs engaging in public relations in an ‘age of misinformation’? 

• How, if at all, can barriers to communication at ICTs (e.g. geographical distance, culture, linguistic, jurisdictional) be overcome?

• After the Independent Expert Report on the Court, how should the Court’s new Prosecutor (and the Court at large) develop its future communication strategies? 

• Are current approaches to outreach adopted by ICTs adequate and if not, what reforms are necessary?

• What comparisons and contrasts can be made between the communication strategies of ICTs, regional and domestic (appellate) courts?

• What are the traditional conventions, narratives, messages, and styles of communication adopted by ICT’s and to what degree are they appropriate and effective in an ‘age of misinformation’? 

• What is the relationship between communication and the achievement of goals such as legitimacy, deterrence, and others found in the Preamble of the Rome Statute?

Abstrakty proponowanych artykułów (do 600 słów) należy przesyłać do 25 stycznia br.

Autorzy wybranych abstraktów zostaną zaproszeni do wzięcia udziału w jednodniowych warsztatach (osobiście lub zorganizowanych online), które odbędą się na Northumbria University w maju 2021 r.

Call for papers: Contemporary Challenges and Alternatives to International Criminal Justice (Maastricht, czerwiec 2020 r.)

W dniach 8-9 czerwca br. w Maastricht odbędzie się Sympozjum dla Młodych Karnistów pt. "Contemporary Challenges and Alternatives to International Criminal Justice". Organizatorzy są zainteresowani zwłaszcza następującymi tematami:

• I) The status quo: What is (the state of) international criminal justice today? What are the obstacles faced by international criminal justice, as well as its perceived failures and contestations? To what extent are these inevitable or inherent to the system? To what extent they are hindering its progression into a fully matured legal system? 
• II) General challenges to the system: Have the decisions of the ICC, its Prosecutor and States Parties undermined the integrity and credibility of the system? In particular, what is the impact of ICC acquittals or withdrawals of charges? Are states showing less willingness to cooperate to achieve international criminal justice goals, and if so, why? To what extent have recent developments in the field of immunities of state officials, as well as broader considerations of sovereignty undermined the principle of individual criminal accountability? 
• III) Differences between legal systems: In what ways have domestic jurisdictions contributed to or disrupted the work of international criminal tribunals, as well as their legal framework? To what extent do differences in legal cultures affect such processes? Besides the traditional dichotomy between civil and common law systems, or adversarial and inquisitorial proceedings, do general cultural differences, such as language barriers and moral distinctions, present challenges to the definitions of international crimes, defences, and modes of liability? Can theoretical, doctrinal or normative considerations underpinning traditional concepts of domestic criminal law hinder the development of the international criminal justice system? Do specific courts, tribunals, mechanisms or jurisdictions face particular challenges? 
• IV) The future of international criminal Justice?: Can the objectives of international criminal justice be achieved by alternative justice mechanisms? Are these mechanisms effective in achieving such aims? Are there any lessons learned from controversial acquittals? Are there any cases that illustrate these aspects? What are the best practices that could implemented to tackle some of the challenges or create alternatives? To what extent, if at all, can it be said that international criminal justice deters and prevent atrocities?

Call for applications: International Criminal Court Summer School (Galway, czerwiec 2019 r.)

W dniach 24-28 czerwca 2019 r. w Galway po raz 20. odbędzie się Summer School of the International Criminal Court. Rejestracja na to wydarzenie jest już otwarta, a 1 marca 2019 r. mija termin składania wniosków o stypendia, które pokryją koszt opłaty za udział w Szkole, zakwaterowania, części posiłków i materiałów naukowych.

Dla osób, które nie uzyskają stypendium, została przewidziana opłata w wysokości 400 euro (przy wpłacie do 1 marca; potem 450 euro). Szczegółowe informacje, w tym program Szkoły Letniej i formularz rejestracyjny, znajdują się na stronie internetowej Szkoły.

Do 15 października br. można przesyłać propozycje tekstów do książki "Intersections of Law and Culture at the International Criminal Court", powstającej pod redakcją dr Brianne McGonigle Leyh i dr Julie Fraser z Netherlands Institute of Human Rights oraz Montaigne Centre for Rule of Law and Administration of Justice, działających przy wydziale prawa Uniwersytetu w Utrechcie.

Abstrakt powinien mieć nie więcej niż 400 słów, a ostateczny tekst nie więcej niż 8.500 słów.

Call for papers: Who is Afraid of the International Criminal Court? Interdisciplinary conference on deterrence in International Criminal Justice (Kopenhaga, styczeń 2019 r.)

iCourts oraz duńskie Centre of Excellence for International Courts, działające przy National Research Foundation zapraszają na konferencję pt. "Who is Afraid of the International Criminal Court? Interdisciplinary conference on deterrence in International Criminal Justice", która odbędzie się w dniach 24-25 stycznia 2019 r. w Kopenhadze.

Celem tej interdyscyplinarnej konferencji jest zebranie badaczy z różnych dyscyplin, którzy poddadzą dyskusji odstraszający efekt jurysdykcji Międzynarodowego Trybunału Karnego z perspektywy przyszłości całego  systemu międzynarodowej sprawiedliwości karnej.

Université Libre de Bruxelles zaprasza na kolokwium "The ICC Statute reaches 20: Critical and interdisciplinary approaches", które odbędzie się w dniach 3-4 grudnia br. w Brukseli.

Celem kolokwium jest krytyczne spojrzenie na dorobek 20 lat Statutu MTK z trzech perspektyw: prawnej/technicznej, politycznej/ekonomicznej i socjologicznej/antropologicznej.

Video: Międzynarodowy Fundusz Walutowy oraz relacja między MTK a Unią Afrykańską

W audiowizualnej bibliotece  ONZ znalazły się dwa interesujące nabytki:

• Mia Swart, prof. Uniwersytetu w Johannesburgu, wygłosiła swój drugi wykład tym razem nt. Relacji między Unia Afrykańską a Międzynarodowym Trybunałem Karnym, 
• zaś Ross Leckow, z-ca Dyrektora MFW ds. prawnych, przedstawił Strukturę, cele i funkcjonowanie Międzynarodowego Funduszu Walutowego.

Call for papers: Journal of International Criminal Justice symposium - The International Criminal Court’s Policies and Strategies

Journal of International Criminal Justice zaprasza do przesyła propozycji artykułów do specjalnego numeru zatytułowanego "The International Criminal Court’s Policies and Strategies", który ukaże się w lipcu 2017 r.

Czasopismo jest szczególnie zainteresowane następującymi tematami 

• the need for clear and transparent policies available to the general public and to state parties, also in light of the complementarity system;
• who are the target audiences of such policies once published and what is their nature (binding or not);
• the methodology of drafting and then ensuring implementation of policies concerning such highly complex and contentious issues;
• the overall coherence of policies and strategic plans adopted so far by the OTP;
• the propriety and effectiveness of one (or more) of those policies currently available and suggestions for amendment or improvement; and
• gaps/areas where planning or transparency is most needed, possibly in the form of a policy paper, including concrete proposals for the content of such policies and strategies.

Call for submissions: Workshop on Monitoring of Complementarity and Cooperation

Międzynarodowa Akademia (International Nuremberg Principles Academy) organizuje coroczne Forum w Norymberdze (Niemcy), którego integralną częścią są warsztaty, i jeden z nich będzie dotyczył komplementarności w międzynarodowym prawie karnym i współpracy krajów z Międzynarodowym Trybunałem Karnym.

Akademicy i praktycy mogą  przesyłać abstrakty, bądź pełne artykuły, na temat stanu komplementarności w Demokratycznej Republice Konga, Kenii, Ugandy, Republiki Środkowej Afryki, Ukrainy, Wybrzeże Kości Słoniowej bądź Kolumbii.

Abstrakty (wyłącznie po ang.) muszą być przesłane do 22 sierpnia 2015 i najlepsze z artykułów będą opublikowane w edytowanej książce. Akademia pokryje koszty podróży i zakwaterowania autorów wybranych prac do prezentacji podczas konferencji w listopadzie.
