Call for papers: International Journal for the Semiotics of Law & Comparative Legilinguistics

Redakcje International Journal for the Semiotics of Law oraz Comparative Legilinguistics zapraszają do przesyłania zgłoszeń do 3 numerów specjalnych czasopism poświęconych tematyce "COVID-19 Infodemic - Between Law, Ethics and Fake News".
Teksty mogą odpowiadać m.in. na następujące pytania:
1. Journalism ethics – in the light of the need to catch attention of readers numerous journals start posting and publishing unverified and misleading materials,
2. The role of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tencent, Tiktok and others in limiting or spreading misinformation,
3. Hate speech and cyberbullying connected with pandemic and its effects on society, economy, politics, etc.
4. Cyberattacks connected with Covid-19 (Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO has seen a dramatic increase in the number of cyberattacks directed at its staff, and email scams targeting the public at large, analogously platforms made available to teachers and other sectors such as ZOOM have been hacked),
5. Ostracism directed at people who got infected and unconsciously spread the disease onto others,
6. Legal means of combating fake news, hate speech, cyberbullying,
7. Stereotyping and deviant community creation as a result of stereotypes,
8. Image manipulation,
9. Other semiotic aspects of communication during pandemic,
10. Imaging China as the first country who detected the infected people,
11. Imaging other countries hit by the virus,
12. Imaging political parties involved in decision-making processes connected with counteracting the pandemic,
13. Political discourse – modes of reporting infections, disease, asking for help, solidarity, social distancing,
14. Imagining artistic means to express concern, solidarity and hope
Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 300 słów) należy przesyłać do 10 grudnia 2021 r.
Termin nadsyłania tekstów upływa 15 marca 2022 r.

Call for papers: Language Walls in International Law (online, 29 października 2021 r. )

W dniu 29 października br. odbędą się warsztaty pt. "Language Walls in International Law". Organizatorzy są zainteresowani wystąpienia dotyczącymi zwłaszcza następujących zagadnień:

• Problems arising from monolingualism and bilingualism in international adjudication.
• Problems related to research and access to information in international law.
• Problems related to teaching international law to non-English/French speaking students.
• Advantages and disadvantages of using a certain language in international law practice.
• Access to market: linguistic problems in relation to publishing in international law books and journals.
• Access to market: linguistic problems in relation to working in the international law field.
• Issues regarding some non-dominant languages and the fabric of international law.

Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 450 słów) należy przesyłać do 2 lutego br.

Przewidywana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.

Webinarium Bloga PPM o języku władzy i pojęciu suwerenności

Zespół Bloga PPM zaprasza na interdyscyplinarne webinarium dotyczące tego, jak językoznawca bada dyskursy polityczne oraz jak język władzy, używany w odniesieniu do pojęcia suwerenności, jest oceniany przez prawników.

Paneliści:

- dr hab. Katarzyna Kłosińska - językoznawczyni, wykładowczyni Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, a także przewodnicząca Rady Języka Polskiego przy Prezydium PAN, autorka m.in. książki: Dobra zmiana* czyli jak się rządzi światem za pomocą słów, Znak 2019 (współautor: Michał Rusinek).

- dr hab. Jerzy Kranz - prawnik, dyplomata, profesor Akademii Leona Koźmińskiego, autor m.in. książki: Pojęcie suwerenności we współczesnym prawie międzynarodowym, Elipsa 2015.
