Redakcja "Europe and the World - A Law Review" zaprasza do nadsyłania tekstów poświęconych miejscu Europy na świecie, a w szczególności prawu relacji zewnętrznych Unii Europejskiej. Czasopismo publikuje zarówno artykuły (8.000-12.000 słów), krótsze teksty (5.000-8.000 słów), jak i recenzje.

Call for papers: European Yearbook of Constitutional Law

Do 1 czerwca br. można przesyłać propozycje artykułów (350-500 słów) do European Yearbook of Constitutional Law do numeru pt. "Constitutional Advice".

Teksty mogą dotyczyć m.in. następującej problematyki:

• Critical analyses focussed on the need, justification, legitimacy, scope, effect, function, mandate and nature of advising on constitutional issues. How is/can/should such advice be rendered in modern polities, taking into account their political, constitutional and institutional context, complexity and problems? In short, analyses dealing with the why, what, when, how, with what effect and by whom of advising on constitutional issues are sought. The purpose is to go beyond mere description, by focussing on critical constitutional and/or theoretical analysis in order to understand and evaluate the theme fully. 
• In addressing these issues, the attention can turn to (comparative) studies of (i) ad hoc State, Royal or Law Reform Commissions which are focussed on a particular issue or set of issues including constitution-making, reform and interpretation; (ii) parliamentary bodies such as the UK Joint Committee on Human Rights and the Finnish Constitutional Law Committee reviewing the quality of human rights protection among other issues; (iii), fixed bodies such as Councils of State and National Human Rights Institutes rendering constitutional/human rights advice on legislative bills and other issues on an ongoing basis. 
• A focus beyond the state is also welcomed, such as the Venice Commission which advises the Council of Europe on constitutional affairs, the EU Fundamental Rights Agency which provides independent evidence-based human rights advice to the EU and its Member States, or the European Convention which drafted the unsuccessful EU Constitutional Treaty of 2004, among other examples

Call for papers: Gender Based Approaches to the Law and Juris Dictio in Europe (Piza, czerwiec 2020 r.)

W dniach 19-20 czerwca 2020 r. w Pizie odbędzie się konferencja pt. "Gender Based Approaches to the Law and Juris Dictio in Europe" w ramach European Law & Gender Jean Monnet Module.

Organizatorzy są zainteresowani w szczególności następującymi tematami:

- The idea of gender equality in the European Union after the Lisbon Treaty 

- The repercussions of European law on gender equality and non-discrimination on national legal orders (constitutional law; labor, welfare and social security law; contract law and market regulation; property law; family and reproductive law; criminal law) 

- … and vice versa: the impact of national perspectives on equality, non-discrimination and the concept of gender on European Union Law (constitutional law; horizontal effect of fundamental rights; theories of justice; feminist theories) 

- The intersection of gender with identity categories of ethnicity, class, religion, sexuality, age and ability throughout Europe (legal theory; freedom of speech; non-discrimination; contract and market regulation; health law; criminal law) 

- Critical legal conflicts concerning women and marriage, family and reproduction, education, work, healthcare, fundamental rights in Europe (also in an historical perspective) 

- Analyses of CJEU and ECtHR case law on discrimination based on gender and sexuality and its impact on national legal systems 

- Gender litigation in European Member States - Different patterns to equality in the laws of European Member States - Reasons, techniques, and practices of gender mainstreaming within the legislative process 

- The Law and Economics of gender and non-discrimination (economic development, corporate and tax law, welfare and labor law, family law) 

Ogłoszenie jest skierowane do osób do 5 lat po uzyskaniu stopnia doktora.

Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 400 słów z podstawowymi danymi autora) należy przesyłać do 15 stycznia 2020 r. na adres elan.jm@unipi.it.

Przewidywana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.

Organizatorzy przedłużyli termin nadsyłania zgłoszeń na konferencję "“Europe at a crossroads: Europeanism, Nationalism and a concept of the Sovereignty”, która odbędzie się w dniach 3-5 października br. w miejscowości Čanj w Czarnogórze. Organizatorzy przewidzieli 3 główne panele w czasie konferencji:

• Brexit – a precedent or the case sui generis? 
• Nationalism in Europe and its consequences to the EU, its enlargement process and human rights 
• The concept of the sovereignty in XXI century
