Call for papers: Sanctions and Africa: an International Law and Politics Conference (Londyn, grudzień 2021 r.)

W dniach 9-10 grudnia br. odbędzie się Sanctions and Africa: an International Law and Politics Conference.
Tematy, które mają zostać poruszone w wystąpieniach to:
  • The positions of African actors (states, economic actors, civil society, and intergovernmental organizations) regarding the legality or functioning of contemporary sanctions
  • Successful and unsuccessful interventions of African states and non-state actors in the development of international law and shaping of political practice relating to sanctions
  • Comparative analysis of African sanctions practices with national and regional practices in other regions of the world
  • Sanctions policy and practice from outside of Africa (global, EU, US) bearing a distinctive impact on the continent
  • The role of sanctions in promoting peace and security in Africa
  • Cross-cutting sanctions issues affecting African states and non-state actors
  • Meta-reflections on the state of Africa-centred sanctions research
  • Unintended consequences of sanctions imposed against African targets
Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 300 słów) należy przesyłać do 15 września br.
Planowana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.

Call for papers: Taming the many-headed monster? Secondary Sanctions in the International Legal Order (Gandawa, grudzień 2021 r.)

W dniach 2-3 grudnia br. w Gandawie odbędzie się konferencja pt. "Taming the many-headed monster? Secondary Sanctions in the International Legal Order".
Możliwe tematy wystąpień to:
- specific sanctions regimes, e.g. the re-imposition of US sanctions against Iran, the NordStream2 sanctions, or Title III of the Helms-Burton Act;
- specific proceedings at the international, regional or national level (e.g. the 1955 Treaty of Amity case (ICJ); the Bank Melli case (CJEU); or the Meng Wanzhou case (Canada));
- the international legality of re-exportation restrictions based on the origin of certain goods;
- extradition proceedings in connection with breaches of secondary sanctions;
- the enforcement of the EU Blocking Statute;
- secondary sanctions’ impact on inter-state relations, their compatibility with the principles that govern the international legal order; etc.
Zgłoszenia (abstrakty do 500 słów wraz z CV) należy przesyłać do 30 czerwca br.
Organizatorzy pokrywają koszty podróży i zakwaterowania do wysokości 300 euro.
Przewidywana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.

Call for applications: European Central Bank's Legal Research Programme 2019

Europejski Bank Centralny ogłosił nabór aplikacji na fundowane przez siebie stypendia. EBC zamierza przyznać 6 stypendium na 2019 r. zarówno dla młodych naukowców (osoby, które nie uzyskały jeszcze tytułu doktora, albo uzyskały go nie wcześniej niż 1.01.2017 r.), jak i bardziej doświadczonych badaczy. Granty wynoszą odpowiednio 5.000 euro i 7.000 euro dla obu grup.
Zadaniem stypendystów będzie przygotowanie artykułu naukowego na jeden z 6 następujących tematów:
  • Extraterritorial sanctions, central banks and financial services
  • The interpretative autonomy of the Court of Justice of the European Union in relation to Union law
  • The impact of the principle of proportionality on the ECB in the fields of banking supervision and monetary policy
  • Intergovernmental agreements in the field of economic governance and the banking union: benefits and risks for the integrity of Union law
  • The transition from interbank offered rates to risk-free rates in the euro area and the issue of contract continuity
  • Cybersecurity in the financial sector: a legal perspective
Osoby zainteresowane uzyskaniem stypendium powinny przesłać zgłoszenie nie później niż 15 lutego na adres LegalResearchProgramme@ecb.europa.eu.
