Call for papers: Law & its boundaries (Edynburg, styczeń 2017)

Uniwersytet w Edynburgu zaprasza do przesyłania propozycji referatów na swoją doroczną konferencję dla doktorantów ("The Edinburgh Postgraduate Law Conference"). Temat przyszłorocznego spotkania to "Law & its boundaries" (19-20 stycznia 2017 r.). Organizatorzy są zainteresowania zgłoszeniami z dowolnej dziedziny prawa, szczególnie jednak zachęcają do udziału osoby z prezentacjami dotyczącymi prawa międzynarodowego, integracji europejskiej, historii oraz teorii prawa.

Call for papers: Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law

Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law zaprasza do przesyłania artykułów do swojego kolejnego numeru (19/2016), którego tematem przewodnim są grupy zbrojne. Czasopismo jest szczególnie zainteresowane tekstami odpowiadającymi na następujące pytania:

• Are the rules on the use of force still adequate for dealing with the threat of violent non-state actors? 
• Do we need a definition or criteria for determining what constitutes an armed group? 
• How can compliance of such groups with international humanitarian law be improved? 
• How can responsibilities of such groups, in times of conflict, be established under general public international law?

Call for papers: Cambridge International Law Journal

Czasopismo Cambridge International Law Journal (wcześniej wydawane jako Cambridge Journal of International and Comparative Law) zaprasza do przesyłania tekstów do swojego kolejnego ogólnego numeru (vol. 6:1/2017). Redakcja przyjmuje zarówno dłuższe (-6-12 tys. słów) jak i krótsze artykuły (do 6 tys. słów), glosy (do 3 tys. słów) oraz recenzje książek (do 2,5 tys. słów). Termin przesyłania tekstów upływa 28 października 2016 r.

Call for papers: TDM special issue on "Time and Cost Issues in International Arbitration"

Czasopismo Transnational Dispute Management opublikowało call for paper dotyczący przygotowywanego specjalnego numeru "Time and Cost Issues in International Arbitration". Redaktorzy numeru są szczególnie zainteresowani następującymi tematami:

• Power of arbitrators to sanction party or counsel behavior that delays or increases the cost of arbitration (e.g. power to order legal counsel to pay the opposing party's legal costs, etc.)
• Enforceability issues that may arise from sanctions imposed by arbitrators
• Whether guidelines and checklists help foster cost-effective behavior
• Different types of funding options for arbitration users, whether impecunious or not
• The effect of a party's insolvency during proceedings
• Use of political risk insurance or arbitration award default coverage
• Recoverability of party costs other than institutional, legal, or expert/witness fees (e.g. sums owed to third party funders, in-house costs, etc.)
• Pressure in the legal market to prolong arbitral proceedings

Call for Papers: Non-Legal Adjudicators in National and International Disputes (Transnational Dispute Management)

Transnational Dispute Management zaprasza do przesyłania tekstów do numeru specjalnego zatytułowanego "Non-Legal Adjudicators in National and International Disputes", który ukaże się w drugim kwartale 2017 r. Redaktorzy są szczególnie zainteresowani następującymi tematami:

• Drawbacks of the external competences provided by non-legal experts to courts and arbitration tribunals;
• Reasons supporting the participation of non-legal adjudicators, providing internal competences in national and international disputes;
• Whether there are particular case patterns that make the participation of non-legal adjudicators especially desirable;
• Background and expertise of these non-legal adjudicators;
• Relevant criteria - of technical, scientific, political or sociological nature- influencing the selection and appointment of non-legal adjudicators;
• Empirical studies dealing with participation of non-legal adjudicators in national and international disputes;
• Whether the intervention of non-legal adjudicators should be encouraged or limited;
• Obstacles facing non-legal adjudicators involved in national and international disputes;
• Whether the existence of an assisting Secretariat -e.g., the WTO Secretariat- or the absence thereof has an impact on the appointment of non-legal adjudicators;
• Attitudes from the legal milieu regarding non-legal adjudicators; and
• Legal and non-legal reforms required to foster -or limit- the participation of non-legal adjudicators in the national and international context.

Miło nam poinformować, że w wydawnictwie Brill Nijhoff ukazała się właśnie praca zbiorowa pod redakcją dr hab. Bartłomieja Krzana "Prosecuting International Crimes: A Multidisciplinary Approach". Wśród autorów znalazły się dwie nasze blogowiczki: dr Patrycja Grzebyk i dr Karolina Wierczyńska.
