Stockton Center for International Law zaprasza na warsztaty "International Law and Conflict at Sea", która odbędą się w dniach 27-28 listopada br. w Newport (Rhode Island). Proponowane tematy wystąpień to:
- The intersection of the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, the law of naval warfare, and the law of neutrality, as well as the application of these bodies of law
- Region of operations, including belligerent naval operations in straits and archipelagic waters and the meaning of due regard
- Autonomous underwater vehicles (UAVs), particularly with respect to freedom of navigation, use within neutral waters, and questions of legal status
- Legal categorization of ships and aircraft, including sovereign immunity, auxiliary vessels and distinctions between military, police, and customs vehicles
- Law relating to hostilities, such as precautions in attack, reasonable precautions at sea, direct participation in hostilities, and maritime militias
- Underwater cables and pipelines
- Non-international armed conflicts in naval warfare
- Naval warfare and geography: Baltic and Black Sea disputes, Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the East China Sea, Mediterranean conflicts involving Palestine, Israel, and Lebanon, the Yemen conflict involving Iran, Saudi Arabia, and various proxies
Zainteresowani mogą przesyłać zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 500 słów i CV lub resume) do 31 sierpnia br. na adres john.hursh.ctr(at)usnwc.edu. Organizatorzy będą mogli zapewnić zakwaterowanie i koszty podróży dla uczestników.
