Call for abstracts: 2021 Global Food Governance Conference (online, grudzień 2021 r.)

W dniach 13-15 grudnia br. odbędzie się online 2021 Global Food Governance Conference.

W czasie konferencji mają zostać poruszone takie tematy jak:

(1) food security, safety, and sustainability,

(2) the promotion of healthier diets, addressing both under and over-nourishment, including diet-related risk factors for non-communicable diseases,

(3) equity and social justice in global food systems, including human rights-based approaches, and

(4) Indigenous food systems governance.

Call for papers: Australian Year Book of International Law

Australian Year Book of International Law zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do najnowszego numeru czasopisma (vol. 40), który będzie poświęcony pamięci Profesora Jamesa Crawforda.

Redakcja chciałaby, aby teksty odnosiły do wkładu Prof. Crawforda do prawa międzynarodowego w następujących rolach:

• Scholar;
• Educator;
• Role in institutional law reform and codification efforts (eg. Australian Law Reform Commission and the International Law Commission);
• Legal Advisor;

Bill of Health oraz Verfassungsblog organizują sympozjum pt. "International Pandemic Lawmaking".

Teksty mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących zagadnień:

• how can international lawmaking on pandemic response align itself with constitutional and other internal norms, as well as international human rights obligations, regarding the right to health and related economic and social rights?
• how can international lawmaking on pandemic response strengthen global health governance in ways that mitigate, rather than reinforce, colonialist structures?
• how can a pandemic treaty address the needs for sharing scientific research and pooling technology and know-how in diagnostics, therapeutics, and potential vaccines in future epidemics, and how might it address potential conflicts with the TRIPS agreement?
• how can international lawmaking advance financing mechanisms for resilient health systems and pandemic preparedness that go beyond rhetorical invocations of solidarity and avoid the pitfalls of previous models of development finance?
• how can international lawmaking best incentivize transparency and guarantee independent verification?
• what provisions, procedures, and mechanisms are best suited for enforcement of an instrument on pandemic preparedness?

W dniach 9-10 listopada br. w Jerozolimie odbędzie się 16th Annual Minerva Conference on International Humanitarian Law pt. "Looking from the Outside In: Evaluating IHL from Other Normative Perspectives".

Organizatorzy są zainteresowani szczególnie następującymi tematami wystąpień:

• IHL as a power-legitimating vocabulary in an era of hyper-connectivity

• IHL as reflected in traditional media - can popular misconceptions help to revitalize IHL?

• Normative assumptions about IHL as represented in popular culture

• Social media campaigns to reform or ignore IHL

• The principle of proportionality in IHL and in public perceptions

• The role of NGOs in advancing new conceptions or misconceptions about IHL

• War as a crime - the effect of criminalizing aggression on the perceptions about the jus in bello / jus ad bellum distinction

• The role of human rights law as mediating between IHL and morality

• Has the time come for new emancipatory projects to replace IHL as a regulatory framework for armed conflicts?

• Does the changing nature of international conflicts (including resort to new and emerging military technologies) encourage greater resort to new normative sources?

Nabór kandydatów na stanowisko polskiego sędziego TS UE

 W związku z dobiegającą końca kadencją Sędzie TS UE prof. Marka Safjana, Minister do Spraw Unii Europejskiej rozpoczął procedurę wyłaniania kandydata (RP, Rusza procedura wyłaniania kandydata na polskiego sędziego TSUE).

Termin składania aplikacji podobno upływa 19 lipca br. W dniu 3 września br. University of Waikato organizuje Contemporary Issues in Outer Space Law Virtual Conference.

Organizatorzy chcieliby poruszyć w czasie konferencji następujące tematy:

• perceived gaps in the international space law framework and Australian and New Zealand interests in filling those gaps, including scientific, commercial, national security, military, broader governmental, public and generational interests;
• analogies from the regulation of other domains (particularly the global commons of airspace, the high seas, the deep seabed, the polar regions, cyberspace and the electromagnetic spectrum);
• the current initiatives and methods to develop space law.
